Histories, memories, interactions and self-explorations are what have inspired me to create artwork.  Aspects of our own histories are elements of life with which we are constantly surrounded and with which we interact every day.  The catalysts for my work exist within the elements of life, both physical and internal, that surround me in my everyday life; they are what I know best.  Through the process of creating artwork of a particular subject or concept I feel I gain a better connection to both subject and myself, however there are also many questions created in the process.  Juxtapositions of fragility and strength, present and past, representation and abstraction, as well as the internal and external all exist within my work and my own sources of inspiration.  Through the creation of these works I feel as though I am exploring my own aesthetic for a movement through time and memory.

The questions being presented by my work for me to consider exist in a state of flux.  Some of these questions are beginning to be answered, others may be answered in the future, and some, may always remain as questions.  Underneath the controlled physicality of the artwork lives a clutter of thoughts and emotions from which I am able to create my work and continue to do so in the future.
